London Borough of Haringey – Fail to proceed in direction shown by arrow blue sign

The appellant failed to follow the direction of blue sign with an arrow, which represented a one way road. They drove in the opposite direction.

The CCTV footage clearly showed the appellant driving past the blue sign, the wrong way.

However, the appellant claimed they were directed to drive in the way they did due to a road being closed off by police. Therefore, they had no other option but to do so.

The adjudicator accepted that the road was closed off by police, due to 3 other cars which were seen to be doing the same thing in the CCTV footage.

This came under the exemption of the Traffic Management Order.

Therefore the appeal was allowed.
